From June 12th to October 4th, the Le FaouĂ«t Museum, in the Morbihan area of Brittany, presented its great retrospective of the artist’s work. This exhibition was the year’s great event in Brittany, hailing the discovery of the modernity of this major painter, largely ignored in his own native land. The visitors were astonished and delighted, to an extent rarely witnessed in a museum, by the scope of his oeuvre (see extracts from the visitors’ book at the bottom of the page). actu_mv_muse_faouet
actu_mv_livre In conjunction with this exhibition, an art book (21 x 29.7 cm – 120 pages, 200 reproductions) was published by Liv’Editions in June, authored by Jean-Marc Michaud, Head Curator of the Morbihan Museums, with the assistance of Bernard Jules Verlingue, Curator of the Quimper Ceramics Museum and MikaĂ«l Micheau-Vernez, president of the RMV Society. Many magazines, radio and television stations reported on these events, including Ar Men in its July/August issue (cover illustration and an 8-page article), and Le Chasse-Marée in its September/October issue (a 6-page article).

Micheau-Vernez Exhibition, June 12th to October 4th 2009
presented by JM Michaud, Head Curator of the Morbihan Museums

Congratulations on this dazzling and fascinating exhibition.

What colors, what joy in these works, an entire life devoted to painting, our thanks to he who is no longer with us and to you for showing us this.

A wonderful exhibition, it hits you like a blow as soon as you walk in, every canvas vibrates with the artist’s own style.

What an incredible exhibition, you can contemplate all at once the whole density of his art.

What beautiful harmony of colors! What a gorgeous feeling of happiness and what an alchemy of textures in these daring constructions, how modern!!!

Thank you for allowing us discover a great artist.

So much sun, so much light, it’s rapture.

A genuine discovery, an artist’s life overflowing with imagination, so much work but what marvelous results.

I was moved by the diversity, the radiance, the warmth, the humanity of the artist’s work. How I would love to have a few of his paintings to look at every day.
